  • Q I have a Lexus 300 and the AFS light is illuminated - how much will that cost to fix? - Submitted by George F.
  • A This could just be simply that you have inadvertently caught the switch which turns off the Adaptive Frontlight System (AFS). This among other things allows the lights to traverse as you turn the steering wheel and possibly even turn the lights on or off automatically. The switch is located just under the dash on the drivers side. If you have any difficulty finding it just call in...Mike

  • AThe most common fault with this one is that the switch looses sync with the bsi (‘Built-in Systems interface). It is a central controller or interconnection unit that allows the sharing and management of information across the ECU’s fitted to a vehicle. It will need resetting first to see if that will cure the fault... Mike

For keeping cool in the hot summer months or having clear demisted windows in the cold British winters, a well maintained and serviced Air Conditioning system is essential for your comfort and safety.

We recommend that your air conditioning system is visually checked at your annual vehicle service and the Air Conditioning system serviced every two years.

Leak detection:

Today it is an offence to knowingly discharge refrigerant to the atmosphere or to “gas up” a vehicle knowing that there is a significant leak. Where we suspect that your vehicle has a leak of refrigerant, we will recover whatever is left in the system and then charge it with a mix of high grade Nitrogen and Ultra Violet dye to enable us to identify the cause of the leak.

Only when we are satisfied that the system is “Gas tight” will we add refrigerant.

This policy not only meets environmental requirements but means that our customer does not end up paying for an expensive and harmful refrigerant simply escaping into the atmosphere.

Anti bacterial treatment:

Another service to consider for your air conditioning is anti-bacterial disinfection. Bacteria, fungus and other microorganisms can all reach the inside of your vehicle when you turn on your air conditioning.

They can cause unpleasant smells and also allergic reactions, including:

Sneezing

Coughing

Irritated / watery eyes

The potential for streptococcal infections from contaminated Air Conditioning systems has been recognised for years.

We treat the evaporator with a specially formulated Air Conditioner anti-bacterial spray that kills all the bugs and leaves your air conditioning smelling sweet.
